Modifying GUI screen resolution thru text


Anybody knows how to modify GUI screen resolution thru text based.which file to change.
For etc on redhat 2.1

I haven't run redhat 2.1 in years. It doesn't have a standard XF86Config file? You should be able to change it when starting using the following command:

startx --bpp 16 (that's two - )

Replacing the 16 with the resolution you want i.e, 8, 16, 24, or 32.
