Linux Installation Procedure

Hi everybody:
I am very new to the linux. I like to install red hat enterprise linux lower version on my laptop.
How i can get linux installation cd. Eventually, i will install the oracle 10g on this linux operating system.
My laptop is toshiba m100 with 2.5 gb ram followed by 80 gb hard drive and 1.5 mhz speed.
I contact the red hat technical support people where i could not get any help.
Please help to obtain the linux installation cd on my laptop so that i can install the oracle 10g on the same os.
Your cooperation and assistance in the above matter will be highly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,

if you like to have the same functionality as RedHat provides, install CentOS (www.centos.org) a complete RedHat Enterprise Clone available at no cost. RedHat by itself does not provide install cd download for free, if you wish to have RedHat cd's than you will have to pay for, but technical support is included.

welcome to LQ!!

Please do not post something like this into an existing thread---especially one that is over two years old. I'll report this to be moved to its own thread.

RedHat Enterprise (RHEL) is a commercial distribution---you have to buy it. (I am surprised that the tech support people would not tell you that.)

There are MANY free versions of Linux---If you really need RHEL, but don't want RedHat official support, you can get CentOS.
