Unhappy ld: unrecognized option

hi

i have the makefile

pruAlarm:cPruAlmTsk.o cPruAlmMgr.o cPruAlmList.o $L/pruBase.lib
$(LD) $(LDFLAGS) cPruAlmTsk.o cPruAlmMgr.o cPruAlmList.o $L/pruBase.lib\

But if i give the same make pruAlarm in "gcc version 4.4.2 (GCC)". It Shows the followinn Error

"ld: unrecognized option"
"ld: use the --help option for usage information".

-Wall itself should not cause any problem

the differences in gcc 2 and gcc 4
are --- well, Astronomical
]
i would NOT expect old code from the 1990's to build in the 2000 TEENS

you will likely need to do a full rewrite of the code base

well you can go back in time a bit in the changelog

-gcc 295
https://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-2.95/

--- a ton from 2.9 to 4.4
https://gcc.gnu.org/releases.html

--4,1
https://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-4.1/changes.html

- 4.4
https://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-4.4/changes.html

--- 4.8
https://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-4.8/changes.html
