KDE RH9 MP3 support in JuK?

Hi,

Having just upgraded to KDE 3.2.1 via a load of RPMs, I want to play MP3s in programs other than XMMS (i've already installed the xmms-mp3 package). It seems that the kdemultimedia mp3 was crippled by Fedora because of those patent issues, but nothing I try seems to solve it -

1. I tried installing the kdemultimedia-mp3 package from here: dot.kde.org/1075971286/1076001646/

2. I tried uninstalling kdemultimedia and reinstalling it using the package from kde-redhat (which I was under the impression was un-crippled, after reading the mailing lists)

3. I tried uninstalling kdemultimedia and compiling it from source, but it couldn't find Qt anywhere, even when i specified it in all the ./configure qt options! (It said it couldn't find qt-mt)

I have no idea what to try next, and I'd really appreciate it if someone could point out something I might be doing wrong, or some way of enabling MP3 properly, rather than just using an xmms plugin. This lack of MP3 support is driving me crazy!
