gnome semi-freeze after hardreset
After a hardreset on my RedHat 8.0 I experience the problem that gnome does not work properly anymore...
Symptoms:
after logging in and choosing GNOME as windowsmanager the Machine starts up but very slowly...
Normaly there shows up a picture with icons showing which service is actually being started.
It lasts a good while (minutes) until these icons show up and still then they initiate very slowly...
after an hour or so a window appears that the system is looking for trash bins...
aftre another good while (another hour or so) it appears the backgroundpicture and some icons. I can move the windows but if I try to open a file or folder, RedHat needs again at least 10 minutes to open it.
At this moment there is no task bar around so it is neither possible to logout or restart...
I tried to reinstall the metacity windowmanager (gnome appearently uses it) and all gnome-* ( but nor all *gnome) packages but nothing helped...
KDE starts without any problem and fast as usual...
Any Idea what the cause for this immense slow-down could be? Any hint which package could be also worth to reinstall?
Thanks
Alvaro
