Question FC4 Gnome Menu Disappeared - How do I rebuild?

Hi All,

Installed alacarte to try to update the FC4 Gnome Menues on my laptop and now the menu has all but disappeared! The red-hat icon is there and now I only see Log Out, Lock Screen, Run Application (doesn't work), Desktop and Places menu items. How do I rebuild the gnome menues?? How do I recover? Saw an article that says there in a vfolder somewhere, but I can't find that vfolder (probably why I don't have a menu anymore)

Thanks
Dante

Well try this

In your user folder from where you are trying to login in to gnome

There must be a directory called gnome/gnome2,(may be hidden),clear the directory contents of these 2 dirs.
Instead move them to a different location,in case you need those files later on.

then logout and login

I think that should work

regards

Didn't work. When I run alacarte I get the message that /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu did not exist. So I touched the file and now it tells me that the file isn't a valid menu file. Is there somewhere I can download the xdg/menus files from, like from RedHat?

Thanks,
Dante
