Disk access problems within KDE

I've fixed up /etc/fstab so that all users can access (rwx) certain Hard drives. But they can not seem have those privilages when accessing it from the Desktop. BTW were using KDE 3.1, and I have placed icons on the deskto pto enable access.
Is there something I have missed, or someway of explaining this?
