Changing resolution in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5

Hi,

I have trouble changing the display resolution. I', currently running Red HAt Enterprise Linux 5 with Xorg 7.1.1.My X defaults to 640 x 480. I can change the resoultion with the Display utility and when doing so it says to log out and restart the X Server.

Restarting only gives med 640x480...

I've see some suggestions about using Xconfigurator - but I don't have that utility on my computer.

Good advices please!

Best regards,
Claus

Try this page http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_boo...nfig-xorg.conf.
It may be a case of the Xorg file not having correct details for your specific display & video Card.
Try looking them up using eg
Code:
hal-device
hal-device-manager
if you don't already know them.

Thanks. Yesterday I found that "system-config-disply" made me set the default resolution. I still have to make the xorg.conf file correct, but at least I got a huge step forward.
