Question change keycode that backspace sends on Redhat 7.2/8

Hi

I am using Redhat 7.2/8 on a machine that needs to connect via telnet to a few other servers

The problem is that Redhat see the "backspace" key as a ^? where the other OS [hp-ux 11 and QNX] wants a ^H as "backspace"

Need help as this has to be a system wide change [ X and command line ]

Have tested by pressing ^H on redhat and the OS accepts that also as a "backspace"

Help ME I am going Mad..... :->
