Open /etc/inittab (a textfile), find the rows containing the word "respawn".
That line contains a list of processes that "init" will keep running, along with some other details and options.
When one of these processes dies, it is automatically restarted.
Otherwise, you can make use of an user-level software, like monit which I recommend, and insert monit itself as a "respawn" process.
