'ls --color=never' never works

hello there,

how do u change the colors of directories n files when 'ls' command is given. i've kept my terminal window in transparent mode n it's very difficult to read the directory names.
whenever i give the command 'ls --color=never', for that command i get no color but again when i give 'ls -a', it shows in color.

10ks in advance.

Try...

# alias ls='ls --color=never'
# ls

Then, you can put the alias line into your .bashrc , and it will never show color, after a re-login, of course.

It's a hidden file in your home directory.
