Murga.org forum Still down - same message as per first post -anyone have sucess yet
(J.M's home page OK)
Perhaps that Canadian server's host has unresolved problems ??
Most other people have been suffering problems with the forum at murga.org. It seems to be a hosting issue. It also seems to depend on the time of day. The best times for me seem to be the few hours before midday (UTC). Note that the main site and developer pages at http://www.puppyos.net are independent, as is the wiki site. So you can still normally access much of the relevant Puppy info in case of a problem with one site.
I would have to agree, in migrating discussions to here from J.M.'s site. As has been mentioned on the regular Puppy forums a few times.
John has been very gracious & generous in hosting the Puppy forums!!
I haven't been able to get on for the past half day or so, either. It seems like the main Puppy forum at http://www.murga.org/~puppy/ is now (2006-11-07-UTC13h00) back online. It may have been taken down for maintenance by the hosting company. Let's hope it keeps working this time. I notice very little has been posted there (about a dozen posts) during the last 16 hours or so.
Another useful link is the one at http://pupweb.org/ that links to the rest of the useful Puppy sites.
Monday 11/13 early A.M. (should be very little Web traffic -@ Murga's Hosted Server > 4:00 A.M.)
Back to original post Msg: FORBIDDEN - YOU HAVE NO....ahh, crap !!
I totally give up - there is NO point in trying to help or folllow unless that (Murga's) forum is reliable.
There are many Puppy forums > the Developer is just about M.T.
This forum contains only a bit (unsorted) more
Barry's own home page is too cluttered, only for background info & broken links
Even finding a mirrored md5sum for v2.11 was an exercise in patience
Too many links, too hard to locate -none semi "all-inclusive"
Good distro but lack of cohesion may lead to downfall
Someone must step up & manage all.
Puppy has always been a distro for people with slightly anarchistic leanings...!
It's a great shame that the murga.org forum is down. The fact that someone out there sees Puppy as a worthwhile target and is willing to go to the effort to stage a sustained DOS attack to take the forum out of use means that Puppy is gaining visibility and acceptance.
What I think you will see happen is that more sites will spring up to fill the gap left by John's forum being out of action. With Jeremy's help, we set this subforum up so that we would be less dependent on a single forum, so just post questions here and we'll give whatever help we have to give. Just be fair, and be aware that many of us are still learning what Puppy can do.
And remember the Puppy satisfaction-or-your-money-back guarantee!
Edited : (Pls excuse -this was originally accidental Dbl post)
BTW, while here Nov 19th, 0200 local time - Murga site still down !
Msg : Always the same : Server timed out
(reasonable amount of)) pings never work ~ get dropped)
Sadly, This does not help Puppy image !
No reports to clarify anywhere found - so far ?
