Question How to install new drivers NOT included in standard distro - pref via the GUI

I've just started with Puppy, and found that it can't see the wireless interface on a Dell Latitude e6400. After a bit of research, it appears that I need to install a different (wireless chipset) driver which is not included in the standard distribution.

I have found the driver I need (I believe). It's not clear to me how to install the new driver so that it appears in the list of available drivers to load. I'm running Puppy 5.0.1.

I imagine that this may be a FAQ, sorry if so, and sorry if it should be obvious. I have searched, but have not yet been able to locate the answer. I would greatly appreciate any help - or pointers to summaries of how to do this preferably via the GUI. Thanks much in advance.

as Puppy 5.0.1 is still newly released and the developers there will tell you how best to proceed. When asking your Question. Be sure to include wireless chipset information. Computer make and model number. A link to what you think is the correct driver you would like to install.

They might be able to steer you better over there. I booted up the 2 different versions of 5.0.1 . But I just used a landline computer to run them live. I found the 5.0.1 lupu-200.iso to be quite buggy (Locked up on shutdown from exit). I run 4.31 versions like MacPup and NOP and Puppy 4 Dingo because there are Pet Packages available for running wireless with these releases and are stable releases. To me. 5.0.1 is still a testing or Beta release yet (just my opinion). Good Luck with 5.0.1 and Happy Trails, Rok

... Happy Trails, Rok
I'll do that - thanks.

Just fyi, I had the same problem with a previous version, so I don't _think_ my issue is related to the new version.
