wxwidgets / wxpython: converting StaticText to bitmap or image

Hi

I am trying to display text down in the system tray and update it regularly. I know how to display an image or bitmap, but fail to find the link to convert a wx.StaticText to an image or bitmap.

Anyone know how? I am stumped, maybe I am just not seeing something very obvious.

Ouch, I am have been looking and getting less and less a friend of wxwidgets. Why in hell does everything have to be so ridiculously complicated?
I am trying to go over DC or MemoryDC, but such a simple function and sooooooo complicated?

Really silly.

wxwidgets is old and it shows. Too much garbage has collected in it.

*annoyed*
