where is the bash source code?...

hey,

sorry, I know this isn't strictly a programming question, but where is the source code for the bash shell?? I have Red Hat 9...

also, could anyone recommend any good sites to learn how to understand the bash source code, how to modify it, reinstall a modified bash shell, what to look out for when doing so, etc,...

thanks,
Gearoid

oh, thanks. I was trying to find it on my own machine, kinda like the kernel sources. You'd be surprised (maybe it's just me) but I was trying all different combinations of searches on google and couldn't come across it...

I think you downloaded the doc-tarball. The file you want to download is ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/bash/bash-2.05b.tar.gz, extract that. All the 'code' you are looking for exists right within the main directory.
