what to program in fedora


ok i have been using windows forever (i know... i know i thought about shooting myself already)
i know html/javascript and css. i am now begining to learn c# and asp.net but i want to get away from the death grip of windows i have a system up an running with fedora... only problems it i dont know how to load apps. and i dont know what is the best apps to get such as a good C#/asp.net editor. any suggestions are welcome let me know what you use to do your programming.


also i have 2 roommates that use windows i have tried and tried to get samba working i got to the point where i can see the win comps but i can't get in... all in all i am completely lost.

You can use C# in Fedora Core. You need to install a package called mono. There is also a good C# IDE called monodevelop. So to install both, you can do

where to i type in:

#yum install mono monodevelop

i tried typing it in the terminal didn't do anything... im a big linux nublet

wow i am a nublet i was putting the # in there not relizing that the # is already there

The "#" is there to show that you should be root. For normal user, we would put a "$" sign.
