What is "using namespace std"?


Hi all,
after reading the Ritchie and Kernighan C book, I bought the C++ Guide of Jesse Liberty. But in all sources there is a "using namespace std" in the beginning of the file.. What is this..?

Namespaces should be explained in the book that you bought. If not take a loot at the links here.
