webdev: seeking tutorial/demos/framework for php/ruby/python

I'm looking for a set of scripts, maybe a web app framework or 'mini' framework (in a 'modern' language like php/python/ruby), a packaged demo that guides a novice programmer (I'm more of an admin/it manager) through something like this:

1) authenticates via username/pass (login/logout)
2) presents web interface contact info/personal data, reads/writes to mysql - example: name, address, age, gender, fave color, choice of a/b/c. I want to be able to scale this up to hundreds of thousands of entries.
3) as a bonus: includes android demo, discusses AWS hooks

Both of these are pretty close but I think django might be more than what I need now.

Thank you,

Webdav

Lots of Wikis are pre-made and user configurable relatively easily, just choose one that meets your criteria:

'Modern' language i.e. php/python/ruby (none of that antique 'C' or Perl)
Has SQL server as it's database back end MySQL is a good choice but not the only one
As for the details you wish to collect that is a personal choice or corporate choice

Probably the best place to Discuss Amazon Web Services would be to go here:

I hope I could be of help if so give me a pat on the back

For Python you might like to go with Flask framework (with Flask-Login extension). I don't have a demo at hand, but the documentation is great and has a tutorial. Should be quite easy to start.
