untar specific zipped file


Hi

I have a set of zipped files (.gz, .Z) tarred together using tar -Pvrf.

Can you please let me know how I could untar a specific zipped file with best performance.

Hi,

I don't know about "best performance", but the normal way is to specify the file as a additional argument. Eg
Code:
tar xf files.tar thefileIwant.gz
Evo2.
