Unified cdrom drivers not treating me right!

Does anyone out there know of a way to make a cd-drive re-scan a disc for number and type of tracks, etc. without opening and closing the tray? I tried the CDROMRESET ioctl to no avail.

This problem has me at my wits end, and any help is greatly appreciated.
Also, please don't hesitate to ask if I have left out any useful information.

Thanks,
-Aaron
