Hai This is my first mail to this group

I am studying about the SNMP protocol.I want to make a simple MIB.I dont know where to start.I did a lot of googling but didn't get the right stuff.As i am a newbie plz provide me some starting point(suggestions,URL's).

hi,
First of all welcome to the group.
If you are just starting on SNMP, may be you would like to use an existing setup and learn, before proceeding with writing ur own MIB, agent and manager process.
In FC3 disto, the agent process comes default. So to start straight away,
1. From root, run snmpd. (MIB-2 is implemented in the agent.)
2. Using command line manager query the agent.
snmpwalk -v 1 localhost -c public .1

You can also try net-snmp

I am thinking in an other way.Can we write a mib simulation for a simple application
like controlling the operation of a lift etc.is there resourse in net where we get step
by step procedure?
