signals between processes

hey,
i want to send a signal to another process (with the same gid). For example, when I place data into shared memory, i want interrupt another process, so he can read the shared data and act upon it. Can this be easily done with signals, or should I rethink my implementation?

thanks,
djgerbavor3

you can make one process listen to a fifo and a 2nd write to this fifo so the first can react on input. fifos are named pipes.
which language anyway? Perl supplies an event module that makes signal handling rahter easy, i. e.
