Seeking help to make a Linux Distro

Could someone help me? I want to make my own Linux Distro but I don't know how. I already have the concept in my mind. If only I know how to make it.

My actual intention is to make a team for that matter. I need someone who know how to make a Linux Distro. Thank you in advance.

Welcome to LQ,

Fairly open ended question. Please share more details about what you're thinking for this project.

Suggest you look up:
Linux from Scratch -it is a distribution which you build.
Buildroot from buildroot.org - it is how you can configure and build a custom kernel

If you are serious about it then you need to write up the concept that you say you have in mind so that others can consider it and offer help. Tell us how your distro would differ from others, what its primary purpose would be and what need it would fulfil.

The name of the distro will be Anime OS or Animux.
This distro is will be just like any operating system. The only things I want to change is the taskbar, icons, the start menu.
In the taskbar, the start button will be on the center instead of the left. That is because the start menu will not be a rectangle but a semi circle in the center. The icons will be based from anime artworks.
I could send the designs later if necessary.

The inspiration for this OS is anime. You could say I am one of those anime otakus.

Sounds good. People on this site are not here to create technical project results for you.

You've been given some ideas, but you'll need to work at creating this custom distribution.

If all it is to be is a custom desktop why does it need to be a whole distribution.

That is because I thought the only way to achieve these is to make a distribution.

Sorry, I am only new in this topic.

So, how could I make what I want? Can someone teach me or something?

This is a Help Vampire question, please read the article in my signature.

If you want to be taken seriously, and if you do not want to be a help vampire, put in some initial effort, a few trials, a few failres, and come back with something more substantial.
As it stands, your thread title would be a good phrase to feed into a search engine.

No one can teach you anything unless you have an actual desire to learn.

Saying that you have a name for your desired distro and that it will be based on anime provides no useful information for others to reply to, and indicates that you do not have anything approaching a well defined concept.

The point of my own previous questions was to prompt you to add some necessary definition as the best place for you to start, and to allow you to communicate your idea to others when asking for help. So again, please consider:

Quote:
How your distro would differ from others, beyond simple appearance?
What would be its primary purpose, not served by existing distros?
What need would it fulfil for its users?
It would be helpful for you to review the Site FAQ for guidance in posting your questions and general forum usage. Especially, read the link in that page, How To Ask Questions The Smart Way. The more effort you put into understanding your problem and framing your questions, the better others can help!

Good luck!

Agree with rmistler: probably OP doesn't understand the separation between UI and underlying OS. In Windows and MacOS, nothing is customizable in terms of look and feel, and the UI the users see is not separable from the underlying OS. In Linux, these are completely separate and the UI can be changed to a nearly infinite number of things.

OP: investigate existing UIs to see if one can be themed to achieve what you want.

I feel I have the same point as sevendogsbsd just slightly differently:

Nowhere in any of your posts thus far have you said, you've used Linux, or, that you've explored customizing your desktop.

Start there.

And stop being what Ondoho coined a help vampire, or follow Astrogeek's similar comments/advice. Because that is also true, just updating your thread with, statements that you overlooked a train of thought, not discussing anything you've actually done or tried, and then asking for help yet again, is not really going to help any more than it has up to this point.

Whilst I don't disagree with anything that has been posted in the thread already, if I didn't already have an idea where to start, I'm not sure anything written thus far would change that.

Tangentkun: As others have said, there's no need for a new distro. Assuming you already have some Linux-based OS installed, you are probably using one of the three desktop environments listed below (though there's plenty of others).

Play with it and figure out what it can and can't do, then check the themes and extensions available and see what else might be possible. If a particular DE doesn't seem to do what you want, install another and repeat the process.

Cinammon - https://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com
Gnome - https://extensions.gnome.org/
KDE Plasma - https://store.kde.org/browse/cat/418/

Once you've played with (at least) those three and their extension systems, you'll hopefully be better able to express what you want to do and where you're stuck, and then people here will be more able and willing to help you solve your problems.

Icons are completely separate from the distro. There are hundreds of icon packs available, and all you have to do is download them. If you have the skills, you can build your own icons, but I would bet that there are already such icons readily available. Putting the start menu in the center of the panel is trivial, you can do that in most desktop environments. Making the display a semicircle might take more effort, but that's not part of a distro either. I think the OP needs to learn to use Google or any other search engine. Deciding to have one's own distro without even knowing what a distro is seems doomed to failure.

Had a fling with MX Linux before ending up with SlackWare... but MX Linux had a tool that, after you had setup everything to your likings, could write an "updated" install disc with these settings. Useful when distributing to multiple pcs - or your very own distro...

Sorry, forgot name, metod etc. but perhaps a bit of search...
