Programming in Java, looking for a good place on the web for tutorials or books....

Hey, i am a newbi to java and was wondering if there is anyone who knows any good tutorials or books on the net that would give me a start. Anything would be greatly appreciated. Ohh, i am running redhat 8 with the j2sdk, and i know visual basic and some c programming.

And you most likely will need a good book as reference too. I'd recommend this one:

Another, in my opinion, very good book is 'Thinking in Java' by Bruce Eckel. The electronic version is free and available for dowload right there.

(As is some other stuff, like 'Thinking in C++', also brilliant.)
