Problem compiling Kernel with sound modules

Hi

I'm trying to install the alsa driver on my Mandrake 9.2 system.
It uses the gcc compiler. During the installation prosses it shows the following error : "cc1: error: code model `kernel' not supported in the 32 bit mode"

How can I solve this problem?

What kernel version?

Do you need them as modules?

Maybe if you post your kernel .config then we could take a look.
