Perl + Java assign variables

Hi all,
I'm writing a CGI in which I've come to a point where I need to assign a perl hash to a javascript variable.

perl line:
$form{100} = xyxy

inside the xml code, upon a change in one of the menus, the javascript is run.

var i = $form{100}

the line above does not assign the value of $form{100} to the variable i. i've tried different syntaxes , but no results.

any ideas ?
Thanks

Is the perl-script actually generating the page that holds the
js bit? Or is that something separate?

Cheers,
Tink
