I'm doing my dissertation and I've selected to develop an network management tool which will be like IPTRAF. If any of you have done something similar in your dissertation then can you guys tell me that how should I make the design and report? Actually I'm very confused about writing the report for a project like this. And what you guys think that how much time will it take to implement the tool.
we really can't help you write a dissertation, and with a myriad of libpcap tools like iptraf, does yet another one really justify a dissertation? what's your new and interesting angle on it?? in terms of what to do, well just look at the iptraf source for a start. there are *so* many libpcap apps, that you can always be sure of find a small one with really useful pointers in it. just be *very* sure not to pass someone elses GPL code off as your own to the examination board.
