Multitexture layer colors

How do I do the equivilent of glColor4f(...); on each layer in multitexturing?

Why is it that no body knows this? Even when I scoured the internet looking for this simple bit of info, I couldn't find anything. Why is it so secret?

I haven't done a lot of multi-texturing, but I'm not sure if what you want is possible. The color is not a property of each texture unit, it is separate and gets blended with the textures based on what you have your texture environment setup for. An alternative might be to do a multiple pass technique where you draw multiple polygons in the same space with the appropriate blending setup...
