Lock keyboard only, preserve full mouse functionality

Hi Guys

I will appreciate any advice on my topic.
I work on problem how to lock keyboard till password is entered, i can do it in Perl(Gtk2::Gdk->keyboard_grab) or C(XGrabKeyboard)
Those tricks do their work, but they will also disable Left-Button menu on mouse and windows under X11 can't be moved around desktop with mouse.
I have a feeling it's somehow connected to "Ctrl" and "Alt" keys been disabled, but I'm not guru n X11 and not sure if it's the reason.
In general I'm working on solution to grab keyboard till password is entered and have mouse function as usual.

PS I can't physically grab it and take it with me
