Linux iostream vs Windows iostream

Hi, I am going to need to make a program that involves using files. I am used to making a program like this on Windows, but I've never made a program outside of a "Hello, World!" on Linux.

Is Linux's iostream library (or fstream, I forget) the same as Window's equivalent?

I'm sorry if this question has been asked a bunch of times, I'm horrible at getting results from search engines.

Thanks,
David

The C++ standard template libraries include fstream (and variants), a library that supports file streams. If your implementation is compatible with the standard, this library will be available and will support the same functions. The internal implementation is different, of course, but the behavior should be similar unless otherwise noted in the standard or implementation.

The short answer is "yes".
