Java getHostAddress Exception -- Suse

We are running a Java application that calls
InetAddress.getLocalHost().getHostAddress() and we are getting
the Exception in main thread UnknownHostException. We have
tried everything and it looks like our hostname is set properly,
but have not been able to get around this error.

This application works fine in Gentoo Linux and also Fedora Core 3,
but we are trying to port it to Suse and it just doesn't work. Our
network configuration seems to be fine. We have checked it
many times. Somehow the problem must have something to do
with the specifics of Suse.

Any help will be appreciated.
