Installing/Configuring C++ Libs for Linux

Sup guys?

I tried compiling some cpp code which includes strstream.h, but this file is not present in the ../include directory. Then i found that strstream.h from other machine and copied, but then it gave me other errors, b/c that include file requires other libraries.

To keep it short.
I am using Mandrake9.2, I will like to get all those c++ libraries that are available and install them with rpm. What steps, which rpms or what other files do I need to download and run it?

Thanks.

You need to #include <strstream> without the .h and you need to make sure you have g++ installed with libstdc++. If that is the case then g++ should compile it no problem.

I have no idea what Mandrake calls the libraries, but I would assume the gcc package would be dependant apon the libstdc++ stuff since g++ won't work right without it.

The actually strstream.h file should be located in a directory like this:
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.2.3/include/g++-v3/backward/strstream.h

Version numbers and the i686-pc-linux-gnu directory may vary.

You must include and use namespaces for using the newer headers. For using older header with .h extension, try using 'g++296' or some such backward compatibility compiler that will be provided with your distro.
