Installing and using jikes

I have downloaded, untarred, and configure, make make install, the jike source code I got from the website. I then added the directory treet o my CLASSPATH to have jikes find java/lang. When I went to run it (jikes test.java) I received a segmentation fault. So I redid the install, same results. Downloaded and instlalled from rpm, same results.

Any ideas of where to look? The file compiles with javac.

Also, as an aside is there a way to speed up the running of java (ie java test). It just takes a while to load and I didn't know if I could turn something on or off to help this.
