when I do ifconfig, I only see what the IP is for the LAN connection, and not the WAN IP. Is there still a place on the comp that stored what the current WAN IP is. Is it /sbin/ifconfig ppp0?

My system is behind a LYNKsys router that does the pppoe connection to the my ISP by itself.

Another option, would be to go to a site analogx.com and download a program that will allocate you a virtual host address.

DNSTOGO it's called. Only downside, is we need a windows machine to connect (think that was right at time i got it) and it will effectively connect when you connect to the web. Giving you a permanent name of, say kronic.linux-dude.net

May be a method to use around setting up a script if there is a means to your question.

Just an idea

Ive found one very large problem with this program! It makes a connection to my router since its incharge of the network (main IP address) when you type in my domain name that this program has given me... I get my routers login window. I cant figure out how to forward the domain request to a single computer. But hey... this is a start. Perhaps you cn helpo me with the config that I need to do on it.

Ah! That's where analogx.com comes in handy. There's a program in there and i cant remember what it's called to do just that.
I intend using the same methods for when i set up a few servers, for each machine to host different things, and a main computer to look over everything else.

Have a look, a very good site by my rekoning.

Kron.
