Ide

Hello,

what IDE is recommended for developping C/C++ applications under Linux? On Windows I have used VisualStudio with integrated Debugger, for Java I use NetBeans, here under Linux I have tried out KDevelop which seems to be very good. What is "normally" used for Linux?

Thanks!

With so much choice I guess there is no "normally" but I'm currently using KDevelop for my C++ projects.

You can also use Anjuta (mainly for GNOME, GTK stuff) and Eclipse (with c/c++ plugins).

Hello graemef

where is the trick to get the debugger working? I have a simpel hello world program which runs fine. I can set breakpoints but the debugger seems to do nothing!

Thanks

You can try vi or gvim, but for C/C++ I always use KDevelop because it has some goot features.

You need to compile the project with debugger the options set and then run it in the dubugger. Check out this thread:

For whatever it's worth, RGummi, a large portion of people developing under Linux prefer not to use any GUI at all.
