How to create new initrd.gz (or initrd.img) file?

Everyone

I want to create a new initrd.gz file on fc6.
I tried using this link : http://www.faqs.org/docs/evms/x3834.html
but i am failed to create initrd.gz.
Can anyone tell me steps (or link) for creating initrd.gz file.

Open the fc 'mkinitrd' script in your favorite text editor and study how it is done. The method depends on what distro and version you are running and what the initrd is supposed to do. The mkinitrd script that comes with your distro is probably the best place to start understanding how to create a basic initrd file.

On Fedora or RHEL:

# mkinitrd /boot/initrd$(uname -r).img $(uname -r)

If you want to have .gz:

# gzip /boot/initrd$(uname -r).img
