How to creat a program in c++ in opensuse 11.4


hey all
I`ve just installed opensuse 11.4 and i dont know how to write and compile my programs
is there a compiler like turbo c++ to use??

Type gcc on the terminal and see if it says: gcc: no input files?
If yes that gcc is already installed, if no, then press, Alt+F2 and type there yast.
Select software management.
Type gcc in the search bar and then go on installing.

OR you can also do:
zypper install gcc and relax.

Meanwhile check out this:
http://gcc.gnu.org/

Read and download the documentation links on the right side.

and this too:
http://www.gnu.org/software/gdb/

thanks
but i heard that theres compiler like netbeans that is really good for programming.
does anybody have an idea about it ??

When I look here: http://netbeans.org/ I find Netbeans is just an IDE, IDE is not a compiler, it is used just to "write" user programs.

thanks for your replies Anisha
I used to write my programs in windows with Turbo c++ and when I did some mistakes in my programs, turbo told me where is the mistake line and whats that.
is gcc like turbo??
or not, we only can write and run our programs and if theres something wrong it wouldnt help us??

I haven't used turbo for a very very long time, so don't remember anything of it. but yes, I'll can tell you that gcc compiler when run like : gcc -Wall -wextra anisha.c, produces the warnings and error messages with the line numbers.

The second link in my first post is the link to the mighty debugger gdb. You'll enjoy it once you learn it.
