How do I create application launcher using bash script

Is it possible to create an application launcher using a bash script? If not then how?
I want to install my Kylix application using a setup.sh script that would give the user the option to create a application launcher.

Which application launcher do you mean?? Like an icon in your desktop or a menu item? To create a application launcher in your desktop, for example, if you want to create a launcher to launch vim, create vim.desktop in ~/Desktop:

Encoding=UTF-8
Type=Application
Exec=vim
Terminal=true
Name[en_GB]=Vim

chmod +x it.

The syntax is quite easy to understand, just change it to fit your needs.
