Helloworld

Following the oreilly book.

I get to the steps at chapter 2.
So I have my own helloworld.c

But where should I put this .c to?

then what is the step I should put to makefile?

obj-m := hello.o ? <I don't understand how the author get to this I notice there a lot makefile files in the folder.>

So far I notice that I need to do type "make menuconfig" at terminal before I can do a "make".

I have download a newer kernel compares to the current one I am running,cd to the new kernel folder and run "make", which compiler will be used?

I am not sure why you are mixing compiling a .c file with recompiling your kernel??

make menuconfig has nothing to do with compiling your helloworld.c file.

If you are truly following some sort of book / digest, I suggest you start again.
