header file to replace conio.h

In windows you need conio.h referenced in a c file in order to use getch();

If you write the same file in linux and compile it with gcc what is the header file used because conio.h doesnt exist.

The function your probably looking for is "int getc(FILE *stream);" from stdio.h. I'd recommend reading the man page (man getc) for more information.
