Hi All
I have been trying to get my complier installed and upgraded to 3.2.2 I have Mandrake 9.2 installed. This comes with cpp 2.96. I wanted to install kdevelop cuz I thought it would be easier to compile a program in a structurd enviorment. I have installed cpp 3.2.2-3 and gcc 3.2.2-3 but don't seem to be able to locate g++ 3.2.2-3. When I try to install kdevelop without it it tells me "cpp is not sane", which I learned was because I don't have the g++ installed, Any hrlp in locatomg this package would be appreciated.
Are you installing a Mandrake RPM, it may not be installing into the $PATH. Id suggest going into Mandrake's package manager and uninstalling 2.96, then go somewhere like rpmseek.net and downloading 3.2.2-3.
Yes I am using RPM packages to upgrade the compiler to c++ but a tarball to install kdevelop. cpp doesn't seem to be the problem, though both versions are installed. It's the fact that I don't have c++ installed. I will check it out and see if there is a problem.
not the gcc g++ but am currently looking for the RPM to match the cpp and gcc. I know that it's not to difficult to compile the program from the g++ shell.
you dont really need to. if youve never been to rpmseek.net, you really need to! IT is a RPM depository of new and old rpms. Thats where i got that page from. All you do is go to rpmseek.net, type in the name of the package (full or partial name), and it spits back the results.
I got that from searching for, gcc-c++, then i clicked on the first entry...then i scrolled down til I found the right version.
i have too many dependcies on my libstdc++5 lib in Mandrake 9.2. to be able to set the 9.1 version up at this time. I did look at the rpm repository at rpmfind/speakeasy just could not find the version I wanted. rpmseek will help me find the version that matches what I have.
