Eclipse Run Configuration for an HTML page

How can I create a Run Configuration for html page with no http server (e.g. Tomcat)? I want to debug javascript so I need not a server.

Hi -

As you know, Tomcat processes Java "servlets" on the client.

As you also know, "Javascript" happens to be downloaded from the server (along with HTML), but it's processed entirely on the client.

Finally, Eclipse allows you to debug Java. It even allows you to debug Java servlets (with the correct configuration).

But I'm not at all sure how you expect to use Eclipse with Javascript.

SUGGESTION:
If you're not already familiar with it, get Firebug:

http://getfirebug.com/javascript

It's absolutely indispensable - for Javascript, CSS and HTML.

Try it - I honestly think you'll like it!

IMHO .. PSM

Thank you for your post.

There is a version of Eclipse targeted at web developers which can be downloaded here:

http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/

It turned out that there is Debugging Configuration but no Running one and that confused me as I have never seen an IDE that supports debugging and no running, which must be quite obvious when it comes to JavaScript . I like Firebug and I use it from time to time to do some debugging, but it is not really IDE and that's what I am looking for - a nice editor, code completion, and debugger. The problem with Eclipse and JavaScript is that it is still quite buggy and cannot be used right now.
