Difference Between Perl 5.24.0 and Perl 5.14?

I've decided to take the time and learn Perl. I've found a set of books from amazon with good reviews. The first one is Learning Perl (ISBN-10:1449303587). The book covers 5.14, however, Perl is at the stable version of 5.24. Is there that much of a difference between the two versions that the book would be considered out of date? Should I still purchase it?

The perl way is to do:

Code:
perldoc hist

perldoc perl5220delta

perldoc perl|grep delta
The first thing to do is learn how to use perldoc.

The release-notes detail all of the language changes between each version.
