Compiling for x86

Hi,
How do you compile a binary on one machine for all the x86 range. If I compile a hello world on this machine I get a floating point error when I move it to another machine. The libraries i've compiled on this machine work on the other, yet i'm at a loss at how they do it (fltk).

p.s. I'm using statically built fltk libraries.
p.p.s Am I right investigating the 'target' options, as in 'g++ --target-help' ?

Any suggestions or directions.

Cheers

Please post gcc -v. Also, take a look at the -m option. Are you compiling statically with the gcc libs, also? If you aren't using a 386-compatible compiler right now, you'll probably need to build a cross-compiler. Those aren't any fun to build!
