Cant Compile Mud Codebase

I just downloaded the DBS codebase.. I've always liked muds and this is by far one of my favourites.. only thing I didnt really like was this one race that was completely player dependant, and the overall maturity of the immortals..

but they're shutting down and released thier codebase.. good time to learn about muds and tweak the game I love..

anyways, I downloaded the DBS codebase 2.5.. it wont compile.. it spits out this error message at me..
Code:
[root@localhost src]# make all
make dbs
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/ryan450/dbs/dbsc2.5/src'
gcc -c -DMCCP -O -g3 -Wall -Wuninitialized -DSMAUG -DTIMEFORMAT act_comm.cmake[1]: gcc: Command not found
make[1]: *** [act_comm.o] Error 127
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/ryan450/dbs/dbsc2.5/src'
make: *** [all] Error 2
[root@localhost src]#
I'm trying to compile this on a fresh install of Fedora Core..

heres a link to the codebase itself, if you guys want to try compiling this first..
