http://sandpile.org/

When you start to understand something there, go back to C and it'll seem easy.

To learn C, you need to follow these steps:

1. Read a good C book
2. Write programs
3. Test your programs

Repeat as required.

You will find LOTS of tutorials an code examples with a Google search, but to learn C, you have to actually write and debug your own programs.

Don't feel ashamed. I've been trying to learn some C, and finding it quite difficult.

There's a reasonable looking C tutorial at www.cprogramming.com, but this site also has a Programming forum where you can ask any specific questions you may have.

Welcome to the forum.

Edited to add:
I've just taken a look at the Programming forum, and found a thread by someone else, asking a similar question to you.

C has nothing to do with Web programming.

Many of the online tutorials are free - I don't think that you need to pay anything on www.cprogramming.com unless you want "expert help" (and for that, you can start with free forums such as this one).

You can even "attend" university lectures for free online. I've just found an Introduction to Computer Science course from Harvard, on Academic Earth. This course deals with many of the fundamental concepts in C (such as pointer arithmetic), and provides problem sets for practice.

A "virtual study group" for a course like this might be a good idea (possibly on Facebook?).

What about cplusplus.com? I think their tutorial is pretty decent, although it's C++, not strictly C.

Here's a free Book that is as helpful as some others

The K and R book needs a teacher to go with it to paraphrase the whole thing. I'm not a fan of this one obviously. The one here http://www.crasseux.com/books/ is not perfect of coarse but is worth reading at least once. In my opinion there is not a complete guide to C that is legible to a beginner or even a moderate student. Get an overview and than read tutorials on subjects within C.

Serendipity to you
