Building executable for RH Ent 3

our web host company runs Red Hat Enterprise 3.0 on Intel hardware. we need to build an executable that will run on the server, but they don't provide any way to compile a C++ program on the server itself. so, we need to build it on another box and drop the executable on the server.

what we need to know is: assuming we can't get RH Ent 3.0 on our development box (because we can't justify paying for it, for this one project), is there another flavor/setup of Linux that can produce a compatible executable ?

we've got the app compiling in the latest Cygwin, but that doesn't produce Linux executables...
