Bash Shell Scripts

Hi everyone,

First off, i'm looking for a tutor. I am not understanding bash scripting at all and would be willing to pay someone for help. Please e-mail me with contact info if interested asap to moos928@hotmail.com Anyways, here are the two scripts i need help with. Any help would be much appreciated!!! Thanks!!! Btw, using VI editor on these.

2. Create a script named decimal.bash to output a decimal number when a
binary number is passed in as an argument. The script should check
to see if the correct number of arguments have been passed into the
script. It should display a usage message if the incorrect number
of arguments are entered.

3. Copy the file /home/share/passwd.dat to your scripts directory. Create
a script named passwd.bash that will display the contents of the
passwd.dat file in the following format.

John Smith's password is JS1234
Sue Doe's password is SD2223

The passwd.dat file name should be passed in as an argument. The script
should check to see if the correct number of arguments have been passed
into the script. It should display a usage message if the incorrect
number of arguments are entered. Where the JS are initials and 1234 are
the last for digits of the social security number.thebigman101

Please tell me who your course tutor is because I'd like to show them your post.

Why should I work hard and pass a course, if people like you just cheat ?

You give computing a bad name.

Hi smoker,

First of all please quit wasting space on this forum with your useless and irrelevant comments. First off, these are "practice" assignments. These aren't even graded!!! So keep your mouth shut until you know what you are talking about! For another thing, I don't want "easy" answers nor to cheat. I am looking for a proficient tutor to pay to help learn the subject. I guess you failed to read the entire post. Anyways, please refrain from posting your useless opinions on my thread. I will ignore any response YOU may have so don't waste time posting it.

And you with your 2 comments are SO experienced to tell me what to do ...

Who's asking who here ?

Obviously you are cheating otherwise you wouldn't reply like that.

What exactly have YOU done towards this ?

You post no code that you've tried. you don't ask any questions, you just want some one else to do it for you.

I stand by my original comments.

Post your tutors email address and we'll find out the truth.

Or send me your address by private message if you want to get serious !

Try to be pleasant, and look at this from our point of view. We only have your word for it that these are practice assignments. Also, per LQ rules, posting homework is not allowed, for the most part. The exception would be posting something, showing that you did the work, and are just stuck. You will almost certainly get lots of help then.

As for your offer to pay someone to tutor your, that would be better posted in the LQ Job Marketplace, or by asking around at your school.

Per the LQ Rules, please do not post homework assignments verbatim. We're happy to assist if you have specific questions or have hit a stumbling point, however. Let us know what you've already tried and what references you have used (including class notes, books, and Google searches) and we'll do our best to help. Also, keep in mind that your instructor might also be an LQ member.

thebigman101;
We DO give the benefit of the doubt here....Please feel free to start a new thread that meets these guidelines.

If you are serious about hiring a tutor, then it might fit the job marketplace. However, if it appears to your instructor that you are simply trying to buy the answers to the assignment, then that may not go well.

Good luck, regardless.
