Yes, if static linking is supported (on Linux it is), the library will become part of your application. To be more exact, the needed pieces of the library.

Use your favourite search engine for the term "static linking" wikipedia (the first hit when I used google) has a reasonable explanation of the term. Note the sentence in the third paragraph "The most significant is that the application can be certain that all its libraries are present and that they are the correct version."
