Any good advice or tutorials on Visual Basic?
I am trying to learn Visual Basic 2005 Express edition, but somehow I do not understand it no matter how many books I have checked out. I have Visual Basic 2005 Express for Dummies, SAM"S Teach Yourself Visual Basic 2005 in 24 hours, and O'Reilly's Visual Basic in a Nutshell. When it comes to the code, it gets me really confused.
The funny thing is that I am okay and familiar with BASIC, Unix Shell scripting, and also in the process of learning Python. Those I have no problems understanding and are very clear to me. Why is Visual Basic so difficult for me to understand? Can anyone recommend me a good website or book(s) that make it easy to understand Visual Basic?
I use the .net framework SDK which will install the best help possibly in my mind. You could also get the same info from MSDN.microsoft.com.
As for why it seems difficult. VB2005 is vastly different than VB6 that most people I know grew up with. There are few hurdles, but I didn't find it that hard to transition. Without being there to show you what your doing wrong, I can only suggest posting a snippet of code and letting us talk you through it.
